Leclanché announces preliminary discussions with Precept regarding the possible creation of a global energy storage platform

Tue Apr 1

Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, April 1, 2014 – Leclanché S.A. (SIX Swiss Exchange: LECN), specialized in the production of large-format lithium-ion cells and energy storage solutions, today announces that pursuant to recent discussions, it has received a letter from Precept Fund Management SPC acting on behalf of Precept Segregated Fund Portfolio (“Precept”) stating it is considering creating a global energy storage platform, which could include Leclanché. Discussions are at a preliminary stage and this may or may not lead to a transaction.

A Global Energy Storage Platform

Precept has articulated, in its letter, the desire to potentially create a multi-technology, energy storage platform, including Leclanché and Oakridge Energy Technologies Inc., (Ticker: OKME) (“Oakridge”) in which it holds a majority stake. The new platform would aim to become a leading multi-technology, global energy storage solutions provider, with manufacturing capacity in North America, Europe and Asia. Precept stated that it wishes to engage with the Company to evaluate further the key elements of its strategy and the capital required for its execution.
These discussions are preliminary and may or may not lead to a transaction.
Whilst the Company is supportive in principle of becoming part of a larger, global, energy storage, multi-technology group, and will engage with Precept to evaluate options, it is unable to comment further at this stage.
