Leclanché welcomes the recent European Commission’s Delegated Act draft on Battery Recycling Efficiency as an important step toward fostering sustainability in the EU battery industry. The inclusion of iron and phosphorus in a list of excluded materials on the calculation of recycling efficiency calculations has generated mixed reactions across different industry stakeholders.
Whilst we recognise the need for industrially scalable recycling solutions, especially for LFP batteries, we believe it is essential to ensure a level playing field that supports all lithium-ion chemistries equally with a defined timeline for the introduction of Iron and Phosphorus in the recycling efficiency calculation
Leclanché remains committed to upholding the highest sustainability standards through innovative, durable, and environmentally responsible energy storage solutions. For our full statement, please use the following link.
