Leclanché achieves breakthrough in environmentally friendly production of high-performance lithium-ion batteries

Leclanché is able to reduce the cobalt content in NMCA as cathode material from 20 to 5 per cent and manufacture electrodes using an environmentally friendly water-based process. In doing so, Leclanché completely dispenses the use of the highly toxic organic solvents (NMP) that are otherwise common in the production process.

Leclanché kann in einem umweltschonenden wasserbasierten Verfahren den Kobalt-Anteil in NMCA-Elektroden von bisher 20 auf 5 Prozent senken. Dabei verzichtet Leclanché gänzlich auf den Einsatz der ansonsten im Produktionsprozess üblichen, stark toxischen organischen Lösemittel (NMP).

Leclanché receives orders for 22.6 MWh of battery systems with Stena Line and Brittany Ferries for next generation Hybrid ferries in the maritime industry

Leclanche has been selected as the battery technology provider for two hybrid vessels being built for Stena Line and Brittany Ferries. They will be chartered on a 10-year lease to Brittany Ferries for operation between Portsmouth, United Kingdom, and the French ports of Saint-Malo and Caen.
